Let’s see how the VR+ Lite app performs with a 45-second clip. Recorded from my iPhone, and posted to my Tumblelog in order to see if VR+ Lite can assist in avoiding Tumblr Audio’s 30-second clip limit.
30 seconds of channel-surfing, via Tumblr Audio: On the iPhone preview, at least, this one sounds a little clearer, and I got a little luckier in the channel-flow. I like it! Think you can do better? Might be a free comic book in it for ya, check out my last VR+ audio post for more.
Lifestream Test: Tumblr Audio - Sitting down just in time for Watchmen previews. Now that Tumblr has been put through all the ordinary paces, let’s try the big bonus: Audio!! Good audio posting methods from the iPhone are rare in this era. The later days were better, but in these early days of Tumblr, the service still has some glaring omissions. No auto-syndication besides Twitter, for example. However, it already sports its two main strengths: an end-to-end lifestreaming solution; and a closed lifestreaming loop (i.e. in-app comments and post-sharing). Oh and Tumblr still thinks it’s a blogging platform. snort
Well, it’s been an interesting journey, writing this tumblelog these many years, but the urge has finally taken me beyond its limits. Make no mistake, it’s been a great ride — we’ve been through wars together (though you don’t remember them anymore), and I will miss this place (though you don’t care anymore). But it’s just time. Everybody’s forgotten everything, and I’ve gotten to the part of this road where it turns, and it’s time for a second pass. We all knew this day would exist, and I have all of you to thank (though you have no idea why — you will) for helping me to find the way to my conclusion.
I’m talking, of course, about the Big Sleep. And whatever lies beyond. Tragically, it isn’t possible for me to hang around this screen long enough to find out, but it is enough for me to know that you will carry the torch for both of us to the very end of this blog post, and that you will see the link that I have been searching for all of my life. And that would be, whichever one is at the end. Sorry, that’s all I know, because I don’t survive the Sleep. At least, not in a form you’ll recognise. So this must be, farewell.
It is rather odd to be exiting this tale at the wrong end, temporally speaking; but to adopt a popular current colloquialism, ‘meh.’ Works for me, either way. I’m just glad to have had the chance to see the answer to the much-bandied question, ‘How could they not have known what they had stumbled into?’ Mix that amazement with a prolonged balk at how casually all of these decisions are being made as to Tumblr’s interface and functionality, and you have something approaching my perspective on all this.
So, I hope the friends among you (and you don’t know who you are) have enjoyed my posts here over the years, but this time/reverse-time loop thing is just a doozy …and, here I go turning the corner again!…… and that’s the reason I’ll be sure to continue to post here and follow the Tumblr phenom, and discover what it’s all about! Looking forward, finally, to bootstrapping this beast, and getting to know all of you other intriguing Tumblrer…erers. 87
